Learning CenterWhether you’re setting up your G Suite account on your new Android work device, or are adding your work account to your personal Android device, you can access your work mail, calendar, contacts, and other resources from anywhere, anytime. You can also transfer all your personal files from your Apple® iPhone® to your Android device.
Note: Android settings have different wordings depending on the device version. If the exact wording in this guide doesn’t match what’s on your phone, use the search feature in Settings to find a similar option.

Set up your account
Most Android devices come with native, pre-installed versions of email, contacts, and calendar services. You only need to add your G Suite account to your mobile device once to access them.

Use G Suite on your Android device:
- Go to your device’s account settings.
- Add your G Suite account and follow the instructions. After you finish, you see a message that says your account sign-in was successful.
- Choose which products you want to synchronize to your device.
That’s it. Now you can use G Suite from your Android device. If you need more help with the initial setup, see Set up your Android for G Suite.
Set up mail and contacts
It’s easy to set up your mail and move your contacts from your iPhone to your Android device.

Set up your mail
If you have a G Suite work account (such as name@yourcompany.com):
Simply sign in to the Gmail app on your new Android device.
If you have a non-Gmail work account, you need to add it to the Gmail app:
- Open the Gmail app on your device and tap Menu menu.
- At the top, next to your username, tap the Down arrow keyboard_arrow_down > Add account.
- Add an email address:
- For a non-Gmail address, tap Personal (IMAP/POP).
- For a business email address that uses Microsoft® Exchange®, tap Exchange (available for Nexus devices running Android 5.0 Lollipop or later).
- Follow the steps on the screen to add your account.
If you don’t want to use the Gmail app:
You can download other web-based email providers from Google Play. For example, to use Apple iCloud® email, you’ll need to install an email app that supports IMAP, POP3, and Exchange accounts.
Transfer your contacts
It’s easy to transfer your contacts from your iPhone to your new Android device. First, check if your contacts are saved in Gmail or locally on your phone. If you’re not sure which account your contacts are saved to on your iPhone, tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Then, under Contacts, see which default account is selected.
Transfer your Gmail contacts:
If your contacts are already synced with your G Suite account, Google Contacts automatically synchronizes.
Transfer your local contacts using your iCloud account:
- Make sure all your contacts are synced to iCloud.
- On your iPhone, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
- Under Accounts, tap iCloud and set Contacts to the On position.
- When prompted, tap Merge to merge your contacts with iCloud.
- In a web browser on your computer, go to iCloud, sign in with your Apple ID, and click Contacts to open the contact manager.
- In the lower-left corner, click Settings settings > Select All.
- Click Settings settings again and select Export vCard.
- Open Google Contacts and sign in with your G Suite account.
- Click More and select Import.
- Click Choose File, select your saved vCard file, and click Import. Your contacts are synced to your G Suite account.
- Click More > Find & merge duplicates to delete any duplicates. When you sign in to the Contacts app with your G Suite account on your Android device, you see all your contacts.
Transfer local contacts using Apple iTunes® if you don’t have iCloud or Gmail accounts:
- Connect your iPhone to your computer, open iTunes, and find your device.
- On the Info tab, check the Sync Contacts with box, and select Google Contacts from the drop-down list.
- Enter your G Suite account and wait for your iPhone to sync. When you sign in to the Contacts app with your G Suite account on your Android device, you see all your contacts.
Transfer your local contacts via a SIM card:
Use a SIM card or third-party app to add or transfer your contacts.
Set up your calendar
Next, set up your work calendar on your Android device so you can view, add, and edit events.

If you used Google Calendar on your iPhone:
Sign in to the Calendar app on your Android device with your G Suite account.
If you used the built-in calendar app on your iPhone:
Sync your iPhone calendar app to your G Suite account
- On your iPhone, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
- Under Accounts, tap Add Account > Google and enter your G Suite account.
- Set Calendar to the On position. When you sign in to the Calendar app on your Android device, you see all your calendar entries.
If you use a web-based email provider on your iPhone to view your calendar:
Either download the calendar app that you used from Google Play, or enter your POP information into the Gmail app on your Android device.
Move photos, videos, and more
Move your photos, videos, bookmarks, and text messages from your iPhone to your Android device in a few simple steps.

Transfer your photos and videos:
- On your iPhone, download the Google Photos app from the Apple App Store®.
- Sign in to the Photos app with your G Suite account.
- In the top corner, tap Menu menu > Settings and turn on Back up & sync.
- All your photos will save from your iPhone to your G Suite account.
- On your Android device, sign in to Photos with your G Suite account. You can see all your photos and videos from your iPhone.
Note: If you use Apple iPhoto® on your Mac®, any new photos taken with your Android device won’t be automatically uploaded to iPhoto.
Transfer your bookmarks
To make it easier to find your favorite websites and pages, transfer your bookmarks from your iPhone to your new Android device.
Transfer your bookmarks from Apple Safari® to Chrome:
- Make sure your Safari bookmarks are being synced to iCloud.
- On your iPhone, go to Settings > iCloud and set Safari to the On position.
- When prompted, tap Merge.
- On your computer, download and sign in to iCloud with your Apple ID.
- Check the Bookmarks box, click Options and select Chrome.
- Click Apply > Merge to merge your bookmarks.
- When prompted, download the iCloud Bookmarks extension for Chrome. Safari bookmarks are transferred from your iPhone to Chrome on your computer.
- On your computer, sign in to Chrome with your G Suite account to sync your browser data, including bookmarks, to your G Suite account.
- On your Android device, sign in to the Chrome app with your G Suite account and navigate to your bookmarks to find your favorite webpages.
Transfer your text messages
If you want to keep your iPhone conversations, there are free tools available on Google Play to help you transfer your SMS and MMS messages to your new Android device.
Important: Turn off Apple iMessage® before getting rid of your iPhone. If you don't turn it off, SMS and MMS messages sent to you from other Apple devices might continue to be sent to your iPhone instead of your new Android phone.
Before you remove your SIM card from your iPhone:
- On your iPhone, go to Settings > Messages.
- Set iMessage to the Off position.
Note: If you no longer have your iPhone, you can ask Apple to deregister your phone number from iMessage.

Now that you’ve set up your G Suite account so you can use it for work, you can take advantage of all the other G Suite services as well. You might also want to download other apps that you use regularly so you have them on your Android device.

While you can’t directly transfer apps from your iPhone to your Android device, you can download them again easily from Google Play. For apps where you’re a subscriber, sign in after you download the app to transfer your service over to Android.
